Excessive hair fall after childbirth

We have numerous clients with this concern. Right after giving birth, it is completely normal to have experience excessive hair fall due to the hormones in the body declines sharply to the normal level prior pregnancy. The sharp declines in hormones leads to an excessive hair falls beyond normal rate of average 100 per day.

Whilst in most cases, the excessive hair fall will stop within 3 to 6 months post-delivery, there are ways that can be adopted to minimize and treat the excessive hair falls and promoting hair growth.

Maintaining healthy diet, reducing stress, getting the right hairstyle (longer hair and hairstyles like tight ponytails and braids tends to shred more hair), taking nutritional supplements and adopting the right hair care routines are on the top of the list.

At headmistress, we recommend our customers to adopt regular hair masking and hair oiling in their hair care routines in order to help provide nutritional supplements to the hair & scalp.

Nutrients such as Mineral, Vitamin C (antioxidants), Vitamin E and Iron are vital in the development of healthy hair and scalp. Whilst these vitamins can be taken orally, it is always best to feed these nutrients directly onto the scalp and the hair for best result.

GO NATURAL FOR HEALTHY HAIR & SCALP

In addition, the regular light massage during hair oiling routine helps to increase blood circulation to the scalp and further enhance the absorption of these nutrients to the hair and scalp.

It is also important to adopt and modify to a more natural hair care routines such as using natural shampoo that are loaded with minerals, Vitamin B, Vitamin C , Vitamin E and Iron that are crucial for healthy hair and scalp. Amla and Bhringraj for example, are 2 of Ayurvedic most powerful antioxidants loaded with all these minerals and vitamins that do wonders to our hair and scalp.

Go natural is always the best way! Immediately stop using products that contain chemical or synthetic ingredients that can be more damaging to the hair and scalp in the long run. Opt for natural oil, shampoo & conditioner especially those that are specifically formulated to tackle hair fall & promote hair growth.

Last but not least, be patient. Hair loss can be distressing and startling especially having to deal with imbalance hormone after giving birth. Focus on what you can do to minimize and prevent further excessive hair fall. As much as using the right product and getting the right hair care routines are vital, healthy lifestyle and diet are as important. Try not to stress so much about it as this is part of the recovering from childbirth. As the old adage goes, this too shall pass! All the best.
